5 New Year's Skin-Solutions

Follow these 5 skin-solutions to start the new year off right.

1.  Cleanse your skin twice a day. 
We recommend a mild, gentle cleanser in the morning and a low percentage glycolic cleanser at night. Dead cells build up on the surface of the skin, leading to a dull, rough appearance. Glycolic acid helps to gently lift dead cells off the surface of the skin and stimulate new collagen production. It also helps to unclog pores and prevent breakouts. A cleansing tool, like the Clarisonic brush, can help to break down make-up, oil and sweat from the long day, resulting in six timse cleaner skin than using your fingers alone. 

2.  Apply antioxidants daily.

Antioxidants such as vitamin C and E, as well as green tea and red tea extracts, help to protect your skin from free radical damage, which causes your skin to age faster.

3. Use a form of topical vitamin A.

Vitamin A helps to normalize and stimulate the skin cycling process. It also helps to stimulate collagen production helping to reduce and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin A comes in many forms, both prescription and over-the-counter, and should only be applied at night.

4. Wear sunscreen daily.

Wearing a sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or higher on a daily basis is the easiest and least expensive way to fight sun damage and signs of aging. UV rays from the sun can penetrate through the clouds and even glass reaching the skin, causing damage that can lead to wrinkles, brown spots and skin cancers. Remember, sunscreen is only active for about two hours, so you need to re-apply throughout the day.

5. Take omega 3 fatty acids (fish oil capsules) daily.

Omega 3 fatty acids are anti-inflammatories which can help with acne, eczema, psoriasis and dry and aging skin. 2000 mg. of such acids daily is the recommended dose.
